Tihar Jail in Delhi Gets Bomb Threats After 4 Hospitals Receive Warning Emails

Authorities said Delhi's Tihar Jail got an email about a bomb threat. This comes after other places like schools, hospitals, and the city's airport also got similar warnings.

The jail quickly told the Delhi Police about the threat. They searched the prison thoroughly. It holds many important prisoners, including politicians.

Earlier officials from the Delhi Fire Service said four hospitals in the city got bomb threat emails. These hospitals were GTB Hospital, Dada Dev Hospital, Hedgewar Hospital, and Deep Chandra Bandhu Hospital. Even though they were warned, nothing suspicious was found during the searches.

Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital in Ashok Vihar, north Delhi, made the first call at 9:45 am. Then, Dada Dev Hospital in Dabri, southwest Delhi, called at 10:55 am. Next, Hedgewar Hospital in Farsh Bazar, east Delhi, called at 11:01 am. Finally, GTB Hospital in Shahdara, also in east Delhi, called at 11:12 am.

To deal with the threats, teams from the bomb disposal squad, bomb detection unit, fire department, and local police were sent to the hospitals. They searched thoroughly to make sure everything was safe.

V K Sharma, the security officer at Hedgewar Hospital, said they were still doing checks. He also said that they hadn't found anything suspicious yet.

These latest threats make it the fourth time in the last month that different places like schools, hospitals, and the airport have been targeted.

On May 12, around 20 hospitals in Delhi got similar threats, and the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) also got a bomb threat email on the same day. Luckily, investigations showed that all these threats were false alarms.

Also, on May 1, about 100 schools in Delhi, two in Noida, and one in Lucknow got bomb threats. Later, they found out these threats weren't real. It's important to note that these threats were sent to the schools using a Russian email service.

In Jaipur, Rajasthan, and Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, schools received threats too. Around 37 schools in Jaipur took action by evacuating students and sending them home to be safe. Even though the police, bomb squads, and sniffer dogs acted quickly, they didn't find anything dangerous.
