Flights Canceled, Residents Advised to Stay Indoors: UAE Hit by Heavy Rain

The UAE is facing bad weather, with heavy rain and thunderstorms causing problems. Officials have issued an orange alert, signaling that people should be cautious. The storms have disrupted everyday activities, and authorities are taking extra safety steps to protect residents.

In the UAE, people had been preparing for a period of unstable weather over the past few days. Forecasters said the worst weather would hit on Thursday and Friday. Safety warnings were sent out to everyone, and as a result, schools and offices switched to remote operations to keep people safe.

The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) is warning residents about the severe weather. They recommend avoiding driving unless absolutely necessary. If you must drive, be very careful and stay alert for everyone's safety. The alert also reminds drivers to use low-beam headlights during heavy rain to improve visibility.

Rain clouds first appeared around midnight in Al Tafra and Al Sila areas west of Abu Dhabi, the Meteorological Department said. By 1:30 am, these conditions extended to the western islands of Abu Dhabi, where moderate to heavy rain and small hail were observed.

Bad weather across the UAE has forced Emirates to cancel several flights. Also, Dubai International Airport (DXP) has reduced the number of flight services due to bad weather.

Likewise, Dubai’s Road Transport Authority (RTA) informed bus users that intercity bus services were temporarily suspended due to the rainfall.

On Wednesday, Dubai's municipality announced the closure of all beaches, public parks, and markets in the UAE. These closures will stay in place through Thursday. Additionally, a public alert advised people to stay away from valleys, and low-lying areas, and to be extra careful while driving.

As the situation changes, emergency services are on high alert, and the government says it is ready to deal with the storms and keep people safe.
