8 Killed, Over 20 Injured in Haryana Bus Fire
Early on Saturday morning near Tauru in Haryana's Nuh district, a bus caught fire, killing at least eight people and injuring over 20 others.
About 60 people from Punjab and Chandigarh were on the bus, returning from Mathura-Brindawan. According to police reports, the incident took place around 2 am on the Kundli-Manesar-Balwal (KMP) expressway.
Local residents who saw the fire acted quickly. They chased the bus, told the driver to stop, and called the police and fire department for help.
Locals and police tried to rescue passengers trapped inside the bus, according to reports. Many people said the fire department arrived three hours after they were called.
"Nine people—six women and three men—died in the accident. Fifteen others were injured and are in the hospital. All the injured are stable," said Inspector Jitendra Kumar, Station House Officer of Sadar Tauru.
"The cause of the fire is still unknown. An investigation is underway," he said.
