Cargo ship carrying 15 Indians was hijacked from Somalia, Navy Keeps Close Watch

Indian Navy is closely monitoring a cargo ship named 'MV LILA NORFOLK' that was hijacked off the coast of Somalia yesterday evening. A warship has been sent to the location, as confirmed by military officials on Friday.

Fifteen Indians are on the hijacked ship, and the crew has been reached through communication.

Officials in the military got news about the ship getting hijacked off the Somalia coast on Thursday evening. The Indian Navy aircraft are keeping an eye on the situation.

Indian Navy warship " INS Chennai " is heading towards the hijacked ship to handle the situation.

This week, the navy checked many fishing boats and boarded specific vessels in the North and Central Arabian Sea, as stated earlier.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack yet. Concerns are rising about ship safety in the area due to recent assaults by Yemeni Houthi rebels.

Last month, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh mentioned that India is acting as a security provider across the Indian Ocean region. He emphasized the commitment to boost maritime trade in the area.
