Rishabh Pant : Indian cricketer injured in a car accident





Wicketkeeper and batsman Rishabh Pant met with an accident near Roorkee in Uttarakhand early on Friday morning. His car crashed into road dividers, burst into flames, and injured him. Pant, who was said to be safe, was on his way from Delhi to his hometown Roorkee when the accident took place.


Pant was first admitted to a private hospital in Roorkee and later referred to a hospital in Dehradun. Police sources said he suffered head injuries and a tendon injury in his right ankle.


Speaking to reporters, Dr. Ashish Yagnik, Medical Superintendent of Max Hospital, Dehradun, said the cricketer had no serious injuries and was stable. "He is under evaluation and a team of doctors is treating him. We can say more only after some tests. Right now, he is stable and there is nothing to worry about," Yagnik said.


When the accident happened, Mr. Pant was driving from Delhi to his home in Roorkee to surprise his mother and spend New Year with his family. 


In a statement released by the state government, Pant's car met with an accident around 5.30 am near Mohammadpur Jat under Mangalore police station limits in Haridwar district. Immediately 108 Ambulances and local police rushed him to Saksham Hospital in Roorkee. From there he was sent to Dehradun.


Police sources said Pant was driving the vehicle himself and the accident took place around 5.30 am. Sources said Pant lost control of the vehicle and hit a wall, the impact of which threw him off the windshield. The vehicle quickly caught fire. Firefighters reached there and doused the fire.
