Cyclone 'Mandous': A deep depression has formed in the Bay of Bengal
On Tuesday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for 12 districts of Tamil Nadu on Friday and 13 districts on Thursday. Because the depression over the Bay of Bengal will move west-northwestward and intensify into a storm on Wednesday.
According to a report issued by the National Crisis Management Committee (NCMC), Cyclone Mandus is expected to hit South West Bengal, North Tamil Nadu-Puducherry, and adjoining South Andhra Coast by December 8. It will hit in the next 48 hours.
On December 8, Tiruvallur, Chennai, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Cuddalore, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Mayiladuthurai, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, and Nagapattinam received the orange alert, which indicates very heavy rain. On December 9, an orange alert was issued for the districts of Tiruvallur, Chennai, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Tiruvannamalai, Ranipet, Vellore, Tirupattur, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, and Salem.

According to the Tamil Nadu government, the State Emergency Control Center and District Emergency Control Center will continue to function and relief camps are also being set up in the state. According to an official statement, the National Disaster Response Force has provided three teams to Puducherry and five teams to Tamil Nadu.
According to the report, teams have also been kept on standby for Andhra Pradesh and will be activated as and when requested by the state government. Ships and aircraft, Army and Navy rescue and relief teams have also been put on alert. Additionally, Coast Guard vessels have been prepared.
