Cyclone Asani  Updates; The hurricane is likely to weaken into a deep depression at night

The Cyclone weakened in the Bay of Bengal on Wednesday afternoon and is currently about 30 km east-southeast of Machilipatnam in Andhra Pradesh and 50 km southwest of Narsapur. The latest update from IMD says that the hurricane is likely to weaken to a deep depression tonight and a May 12 morning low.

IMD in its latest tweet said, “Hurricane Asani is centered at 1130 hrs IST on 11 May 2022, 40 km southeast of 50 km south-southwest of Narsapur and Machilipatnam. NNE-wards will be shifted to Narsapur, Enam, Kakinada, Tuni and Visakhapatnam beaches till this evening.

Asani has affected many air operations. "Air India has not yet finalized its operations. The SpiceJet Kolkata-Visakhapatnam-Kolkata flight will be canceled and they will call on the Hyderabad flight at 2 pm, ”ANI tweeted, citing Visakhapatnam Airport Director K Srinivasa Rao. Rao added that all Indigo flights (22 arrivals and 22 departures) have been canceled. Air Asia canceled one flight from Bangalore and one flight from Delhi.
