Japan plans to invest $ 42 billion in India, PM meets today: report.



When Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida meets Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi today, he will promote an integrated approach to Ukraine, while aimed at strengthening security ties in the Indo-Pacific region.


"As the Russian incursion into Ukraine agrees with this visit, I would like to emphasize the importance of global unity and assure you that Japan and India will co-operate on various issues," Prime Minister Kishida said ahead of his visit.


India and Japan are parties to the Quartet Security Dialogue (Quad), a defense structure comprising the United States and Australia.


Japan has imposed sanctions on a number of Russian peoples and associations since the February 24 invasion of Ukraine and has been receiving Ukrainian withdrawal. However, India is only one of four quartets that have not censored infiltration.


Prime Minister Kishida additionally expects to fortify security and financial binds with India. During the visit, he will report intends to contribute 5 trillion yen ($ 42 billion) in India throughout the following five years, as indicated by Japan's Nikkei paper.


Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe announced an investment of 3.5 trillion yen over five years during his visit to India in 2014.


Japan has been supporting high-speed rail in India based on urban infrastructure development and its bullet train technology.


In 2020, Japan and India signed an acquisition and cross-service agreement that would allow mutual exchange of food, fuel and other goods between the security forces.
