Actor Vijay unveils Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam flag, symbol 

An actor and leader of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, Vijay, hoisted the party flag at the Panaiyur party headquarters on Thursday. The red and yellow striped party flag contains the representation of two war elephants guarding a vaagai flower. He will explain further about it and party goals and plans at the upcoming state conference. He urged his supporters to refrain from focusing on individual achievements and consider everyone united for the development of Tamil Nadu and its people.

The maiden state conference of the TVK party is scheduled to be held on September 22 at Vikravandi, Villupuram district. Vijay began by addressing his supporters as 'comrades' and stated that he felt very elated to hoist the flag among his comrades in the party of TVK and the people of Tamil Nadu. He said the flag symbolizes the win of coming generations in Tamil Nadu and therefore, supporters should flaunt it. Also, he cited them to not fear or have no doubts in their work and proceed with statutory requirements while hoisting the flag.

Before this, Vijay administered a pledge to the cadres. This pledge affirmed all the cadres to respect all martyrs of Tamil Nadu who engaged in the war for the liberation of India and subsequently, the rights of Tamils. Members vowed to achieve the aims of those who pursued the cause of the Tamil language. The other commitment made in the pledge was to be a responsible citizen, abide by the Indian Constitution, be an instrument of unity and equality and practice principles to be democratic, secular, and socially just. TVK also vowed to oppose and eradicate all inequality and discrimination based on caste, religion, sex, and place of birth and accord equal importance to all.

Filmmaker S A Chandrasekar and his wife Shobha Chandrasekhar, the parents of Vijay, were also present at the event. The couple expressed satisfaction as the party anthem, 'Tamilan Kodi Parakkuthu, Thalaivan Ugam Pirakkuthu' (flag of Tamil flies; era of leader begins), was released. In February this year, Vijay launched his party.
