14 dead as Indian bus carrying 40 passengers plunges into river, rescue operations underway

At least 14 Indians were killed and 17 individuals harmed when a traveler transport dove into a waterway in Nepal today. The Indian-enrolled transport, conveying around 40 travelers, dove into the Marsyangdi Waterway in the Tanahun area, nearly 110 kilometers from its objective in the capital Kathmandu.

According to an authority, the transport was on the way to Kathmandu from Pokhara.

A senior police official told the media, "The bus bearing number plate UP (Uttar Pradesh) FT 7623 plunged into the river and is lying on the bank of the river."

A team of 45 armed police personnel led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Madhav Patel of the Armed Forces Police Force Nepal Disaster Management Training School has reached the accident site and is engaged in rescue operations, PTI reported.

More details on the incident are awaited.

Earlier at least five Indians were killed when two buses were swept into the Trishuli River by a devastating landslide last month in the Chitwan district of Nepal carrying 65 passengers, including seven Indians, were swept away by the landslide on July 12 in the Simaltal area along the Narayanghat-Mugling road as a result of heavy rainfall.
