Shinde Sena Leader Arrested After Son Rams Couple With BMW In Mumbai, Killing Woman

Shinde Sena Leader Arrested After Son's BMW Kills Woman in Mumbai Woman

A speeding BMW, driven by Mihir Shah, hit a scooter in Mumbai's Worli this morning, resulting in the death of a woman. Mihir, the 24-year-old son of Rajesh Shah, a senior leader of the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, is suspected of being drunk at the time and is currently on the run. His blood test results are awaited.

Rajesh Shah and his driver, Rajendra Singh Bijawat, were arrested for not cooperating with the police and will be presented in court tomorrow. Charges against Mihir include culpable homicide not amounting to murder, rash driving, and destruction of evidence, along with provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.

The accident occurred after Mihir, who had been drinking at a bar, insisted on driving the car himself. The BMW hit the scooter carrying Kaveri Nakva and her husband Pradik Nakva, fish-sellers from Worli. Kaveri was killed, and Pradik suffered minor injuries.

Mihir contacted his father after the crash and has been unreachable since. Police discovered attempts to conceal evidence, such as scratching off a Shiv Sena sticker and removing a number plate. CCTV footage helped identify the car.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde called the incident "unfortunate" and assured strict legal action. This follows a similar drink-driving case in Pune, where two engineers died and the minor driver’s family faced charges for attempting to destroy evidence.
