CISF Constable Arrested for Slapping Actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut

CISF Constable Kulwinder Kaur was arrested today (June 7) for slapping actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut at Chandigarh airport.

Kulwinder Kaur, stationed at Chandigarh airport, was reportedly upset with Kangana Ranaut's comments on the farmers' protest.

A case has been registered against Kaur, who was suspended from her duties yesterday following the slap incident.

After the incident in Chandigarh, Kangana Ranaut released a video statement saying she was hit in the face and abused by a woman CISF constable during a security check at Chandigarh airport on Thursday.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), responsible for airport security, has also ordered a court of inquiry into the incident.

In a video statement, Kangana Ranaut first assured everyone that she was safe and fine. She then described the incident at the airport, explaining that she had been receiving many calls from the media and well-wishers. Kangana said, "She (the CISF constable) hit me in the face and started abusing me. I asked her why she did it, and she said she supports the farmer protests." She added, "I am safe, but my concern is that terrorism is increasing in Punjab... How do we handle that?"

In a video circulating online, Kulwinder Kaur is heard saying, "Kangana claimed that farmers were protesting in Delhi because they were paid Rs 100 or Rs 200. My mother was one of the protesters at that time."

National Commission for Women chairperson Rekha Sharma called for serious action and said the panel had taken up the matter with the CISF.

Running as a BJP candidate, Kangana recently secured victory in the Lok Sabha seat from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. She defeated Congress' seasoned politician Vikramaditya Singh by a margin exceeding 74,000 votes.
