Air India Flights Avoid Flying Over Iran Due to Growing Tensions in the Middle East

Air India flights are now avoiding flying over Iran due to the tense situation in the Middle East. This move comes as there are increasing concerns about potential retaliation following an Israeli strike on Iran's embassy in Damascus earlier this month.

This morning, a flight headed to London from Air India took a longer route to steer clear of Iranian airspace, as indicated by the tracking website Flightradar24.

Sources revealed that all Air India flights heading to Europe might now take up to an additional 45 minutes to reach their destinations.

Air India flights heading to the Middle East, on the other hand, won't be affected because they fly south of Iranian airspace.

Things are getting tense, so Lufthansa canceled all flights to Tehran until next Friday, April 18th. Their airplanes won't even fly over Iran anymore.

There's been trouble brewing between Israel and Iran for a while. Things got worse on April 1st when Israel bombed Iran's office in Damascus, Syria. This attack killed 7 people, including 2 important military leaders.

Reports from the US and other intelligence sources say Iran might fight back as early as this Sunday. This attack, unlike anything before, could spark a huge war across the entire Middle East.

Iran's top leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, just warned Israel they will be punished for a recent attack. This comes after one of his advisors said Israel's embassies could be targeted.

The Israeli military mentioned they haven't given new instructions to civilians. However, they're on high alert and ready for different situations.

Countries such as India, France, and Russia have cautioned their citizens against traveling to the region. The area is already tense because of the ongoing Gaza war, which has been happening for seven months.

US President Joe Biden also mentioned that he anticipated Iran might try to attack Israel soon. He promised strong support for Washington's main regional ally, despite diplomatic tensions over Israel's actions in Gaza. He said, "We are committed to defending Israel. We will support and help defend Israel, and Iran won't succeed."

A defense official mentioned that the Pentagon is "sending more equipment to the area to strengthen efforts to deter threats and to better protect US forces."
