Boat Overturns in Jhelum River at Srinagar, several missing

On Tuesday, a boat tipped over in the Jhelum River in Srinagar. Officials say Six Children died, and many others are missing. This happened during heavy rain, which made the river rise a lot.

The state disaster rescue team has rushed to find the missing passengers. However, the challenging conditions caused by the flooding complicated the rescue operations.

The boat had more than 20 people on board, mostly kids. They rescued 10 passengers, but 10 are still missing.

Lots of rain in the area lately made the river's water levels go up. On Monday, landslides caused by the rain closed the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.

The Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police said, "NH-44 is blocked because of a big landslide at Kishtwari Pather. People should avoid traveling there."

The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway is the main road that links the valley to the rest of the country. When it's closed, it causes big problems for traffic and makes it hard for people to stay connected in the area.

While rescue operations are still happening and they're still looking for missing people, authorities want everyone to be careful and watch out, especially in places where flooding and landslides might happen.

Landslides Reported In The Region

Because of the heavy rain, landslides happened and closed the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. This road is super important because it connects the valley to the rest of the country. They closed it because they were worried about safety. The Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police say people shouldn't travel on that road until they say it's okay. They posted an update saying, "NH-44 is blocked because of a big landslide at Kishtwari Pather. People should avoid traveling there."
