Elon Musk Says Tesla Coming To India Soon

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who began a three-day official visit to the US, met Twitter owner and Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Tuesday. "I am a fan of Modi," Musk told reporters after the meeting.

Musk said India has more promise than any other major nation and he is excited about its future. "The Prime Minister really cares about India as he wants substantial investment in India," he added.

In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs said the prime minister invited Musk to explore investment opportunities in India in electric mobility and the rapidly expanding commercial aerospace sector.

Musk said he plans to travel to India in the coming year. He said India is the best place to invest in solar energy.

Tesla's CEO has said that his electric car maker will be in India as soon as humanly possible and will make an announcement soon.

Additionally, Musk wants to establish Starlink internet services in India. He said, "These services can connect rural towns with no connectivity or expensive internet." Continuing, he said India has a lot of opportunities in three sectors of sustainable energy.

Last month, Tesla executives visited India and discussed setting up a manufacturing unit for cars and batteries in India with Indian ministries and officials.

Mask said that by the end of this year, Tesla would choose a new plant and that India was an interesting place for a new plant.
