The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for Bengaluru on Thursday and said rains will continue in the city till October 23.

With heavy rains forecast in parts of Karnataka for the next few days, heavy rains lashed the IT capital Bengaluru on Wednesday evening, inundating several parts of the eastern, southern, and central parts of the city.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had already issued a yellow alert for the city. According to IMD, Bengaluru is likely to receive light rain for the next 5 days. The maximum temperature ranges from 27-29°C and the minimum between 15-17°C.

Several roads were submerged in water, following which the HAL Airport Traffic Police advised commuters to avoid the Sakra Hospital and Bellandur Kodi road. Heavy rains in the night uprooted many trees and damaged vehicles.

A wall collapsed near Majestic Bus Stand, Seshathipuram, and Mantri Mall in Bengaluru city on Wednesday night due to heavy rains. Several vehicles were reportedly damaged.

Local residents continued to bear the brunt of severe waterlogging in Bengaluru as the water was yet to drain from roads and bylanes after Monday's downpour.

Heavy rains are causing flood-like conditions in many parts of the state.

Yemalur, near HAL airport, was flooded. Many IT company employees living in the area came to their offices in tractors.
