Four terrorists were killed in a subsequent encounter in Kashmir's Shopian.



4 terrorists were gunned down by security forces in a gunfight in the Shopian area of Jammu and Kashmir.


Three of the four terrorists were associated with the JJaish-e-Mohammed terror outfit and the fourth terrorist was associated with  Lashkar-e-Taiba, the Kashmir Police tweeted, quoting the Additional Director of Police.


The encounters took place after joint teams of the police, army, and CRPF received information about the presence of terrorists in the Drach and Moolu area of Shopian district on Tuesday night. As a joint team of security forces intensified their search, the terrorists opened fire from the hideout and were retaliated against, Additional Director of Police, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar said.


Of the three Jaish terrorists killed in Trach, two have been identified as Hanan Bin Yaqoob and Jamshed, who was involved in the recent killing of a special police officer and a laborer in Pulwama, police said.


Security forces conducted separate operations in Shopian's Trach and Moulu areas on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. Police said the encounter is still going on in Mulu.


Currently, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is on a three-day visit to J&K, which ends on Wednesday evening.
