The body of a student killed in Ukraine came to Karnataka.
The body of Indian student Naveen Shekarappa Gyanagoudar, who was killed in a shelling attack in the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv on March 1 during the Russia-Ukraine war, arrived at the Bangalore airport on Monday.
Family members of the student and Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai were at Airport.
The plane carrying Naveen's body landed at Bangalore airport at 3:00 am and was diverted to his home village in the Haveri district of Karnataka.
Naveen Shekarappa Gyanagoudar is an MBBS student from the Haveri district in the state of Karnataka. A 21-year-old student from the National Medical University of Kharkiv was reportedly killed in a Russian shelling while standing in line to buy food.
Karnataka Chief Minister has handed over a check of ₹ 25 lakh to his family and promised to provide employment to the family member.
Naveen's father Sankarappa said that the family has decided to donate their son's body for medical research.
Naveen's father said, "My son wanted to achieve in the medical field. But it did not happen. At least his body could be used for the study of other medical students. That is why we decided at home to donate his body for medical research."
