Two younger siblings were killed when a building collapsed in Delhi's Sabzi Mandi



Two teenagers were killed when a four-storey building collapsed in the 
Sabzi Mandi area of North Delhi on Monday.


Police said three to four more people are believed to be trapped in the rubble.


A 72-year-old man trapped in the rubble has been rescued and admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment, police said.


The incident took place a few days after unprecedented heavy rains in Delhi, which claimed lives. The car parked nearby was badly damaged as debris from the building fell on it.


Locals who had gathered there to help with rescue operations were later evacuated from the area.


Teams including local team, MCD, NDRF are to be involved in the rescue operation.


Authorities said seven fire trucks rushed to the scene for rescue operations.


The call to the Delhi Fire Service came at 11.50 am, DFS Director Atul Garg said.


Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said he was closely monitoring the situation.


"The incident of building collapse in Sabzi Mandi area is very sad. The administration is involved in relief and rescue work.Through the district administration, I am monitoring the situation myself, ”he tweeted in Hindi.





“Unfortunately, the 75-year-old building of Lakshman Prasad ji collapsed in Malkaganj.On the spot, the Delhi government's QRT team, fire brigade team and local administration, we and AAP workers are involved in the rescue operation.


"Two people were evacuated safely. About 7-8 people were afraid to get trapped inside," he tweeted in Hindi.
