Android users ALERT! Joker malware attacks these apps and delete them to keep your data safe
A few Google Play Store apps are found with Joker malware. The malware sneaks into the user's device via apps and then secretly collects the data and subscribes these users to premium subscriptions without the user's knowledge or permission.
The Joker Trojan malware has been found in Google Play Store apps for the past three years. The latest report from Quick Cure Safety Labs found 8 Joker malware in the Google Play Store. These eight apps have been reported to Google and the technology company has removed all apps from their store.
Here are eight apps that were recently discovered with the Joker Trojan virus, and they should be removed from any Android device:
- Auxiliary Message
- Fast Magic SMS
- Free CamScanner
- Super Message
- Element Scanner
- Go Messages
- Travel Wallpapers
- Super SMS
The Joker Trojan steals information from the victim's device via SMS messages, contact list and device information. The Trojan will then quietly interact with advertising websites and subscribe to premium services without the victim knowing.
Initially, these applications ask for notification access, which is used to retrieve notification data, according to the Quick Heal report. The application then takes the SMS data from the notification and asks for access to the contacts. Uses and manages phone call permission when access is granted. After that, it continues to function without showing any malicious activity to the user.
The cybersecurity company claim that the malware spreads malware on the Google Play Store, scanner apps, wallpaper apps, and news apps. These types of applications will soon become the target. Users are advised to avoid such applications and to use only trusted ones.
