The 'Triple mutant' COVID virus in India

The 'Triple mutant' Covid virus in India

While the number of cases in India has reached a maximum of 2.94 lakh in the last 24 hours, the triple mutation virus has spread in some parts of India.

After the double-modified variant led to an increase in cases in many parts of the country, these triple variants have caused confusion among many epidemiologists.

Two triple classifications were found in examples collected from Maharashtra, Delhi, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh.

"It's a very contagious variant. It makes a lot of people sick very quickly," said Madhukar Pai, a professor of epidemiology at McGill University.

This poses a major challenge to India, which currently has less than one per cent genetic sequencing in all cases.

According to Dr. Pi, the delay in detecting the double mutation may have contributed to the current viral trigger.

What is three mutation?

The double mutation that appeared in India, when two strains merged. Now the three covid types combine to form three mutations.
