Everyone over the age of 18 is eligible for the vaccine from May 1st

The government announced today that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a series of meetings on India’s response to register daily uprisings in the Covid cases that vaccinations will be open to everyone over the age of 18 from May 1.

All adults will be vaccinated and states will be able to purchase vaccines directly from manufacturers in the “Liberalized and Accelerated Phase 3 Strategy of the Covid-19 Vaccine”, with the country registering 2.73 lakh new cases a day.

India began vaccinating people in January using the Covishield - two Govt vaccines from the Serum Institute of India, developed by Oxford-AstraZeneca and Bharat Biotech's, manufactured by Bharat Biotech. So far, the government has allowed vaccinations in the federal control process only for health workers, leading staff and those over 45 years of age.
