WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram went down: Here’s what the company said

WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook crashed in India and around the world on Friday night. A lot of users could not send or receive messages. Some users also reported failing to log in to the WhatsApp web. According to Downtector, the issue started at 10:40 pm in India and prevents WhatsApp users from sending or receiving messages on the service for more than an hour. However, WhatsApp says that this service is only reduced to 45 minutes.

Although the company did not reveal the exact cause, it insisted there was a technical problem. “Earlier today, a technical problem caused people to have trouble accessing certain Facebook services. We have resolved this issue for all and we apologize for any inconvenience, ”a Facebook spokesperson told.

With the exception of WhatsApp, both Facebook and Instagram do not work for many users. More than 28,500 people reported problems on Instagram, and more than 34,127 users found problems on WhatsApp, according to the popular freelance reporting service.

According to the cited source, more than 49 percent of WhatsApp users are experiencing connectivity issues, 48 percent are unable to send or receive messages on the platform, and 2 percent are unable to log in.

Downtector showed that 57 percent of Facebook users reported a total blackout and 29 percent had no access to a social media app. About 66 percent of Instagram users do not have access to the News Feed and its official website. If you do not know, Downtector is a site that monitors malfunctions by linking status reports from users and some other sources.

Besides, this is not the first time services have been affected. In December 2020, WhatsApp went down a few hours with Instagram and Facebook before the services were reset.
