Center advises states to operate all private hospitals as vaccination sites



The Center on Tuesday advised the states to use the full potential of private hospitals to act as vaccination sites as India entered the 2nd day of the second phase of the vaccination drive today. All private hospitals that have not been embalmed under federal programs are now allowed to operate as vaccination sites.


More than 1.48 crore drugs of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered until 1 p.m. today. Of these, 2,08,791 were over the age of 60 or under the age of 45-60. In addition, the government has so far received 50 lakh registrations  on CoWIN for COVID-19 vaccine.


Addressing a press conference, Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan further said that despite the increase in the number of active cases in some states of the country, the number of recovered cases is more than 97 per cent and the number of active cases is still less than 2 per cent.


 He said the COVID-19 epidemic in India was close to being under control with an overall case positive of 5.11 per cent. “According to the World Health Organization, 140 tests per million per day, and if the positive rate of the case is 5 percent or less, it means that the COVID-19 infection is under control. We are very close to that mark with an overall case positive of 5.11 percent. ”


Meanwhile, India’s covid-19 crossed 1.12 crore on Tuesday with 12,286 new infections. More than half of these, or 6,397 cases, have been detected in Maharashtra. In Kerala, 1,938 cases have been reported. At least 97 deaths were reported on Monday, more than 1.57 lakh in the country. Apart from Maharashtra and Kerala, Punjab, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Jammu & Kashmir and Madhya Pradesh have seen an increase in daily cases.
