Japanese billionaire seeks eight people for free trip to the moon
CEO of fashion retailer Zozo is looking for eight people to fly to the moon on Elon Musk's SpaceX flight in 2023 - the first civilian lunar voyage.
This week, Maezawa opened applications for the uncommon open door, which he calls "Dear Moon." He said in a declaration video that he was urged to apply "from a wide range of foundations".
The 45-year-old fashion tycoon was the first private traveler to book a place on the trip - at an unpublished price. A total of 12 people are expected to join the mission.
"I would pay for the whole trip. I bought all the seats, so this is a private ride," he said. "Together, we hope we can turn it into a fun trip."
Pre-registration ends March 14 with initial screenings by March 14, according to the Dearmon website. The final interview and medical examination is expected to take place by May this year.
