2,000-Year-Old Mummy With a Golden Tongue Unearthed in Egypt



Archaeologists have unearthed a mummy at 
Taposiris Magna temple in Alexandria, and its tongue is made of gold.


Experts believe the mummy may be 2,000 years old or older.Researchers have not yet determined the reason why precious metal was used in the manufacture of the tongue.


During excavations, the team found 16 mummies two centuries old. One of them is said to have had a plaster bandage wrapped around her head and most of her body showed a crown, horns and a cobra.


Two more mummies dug up are buried with scrolls with signs that can provide substantial information when understood.Archaeologists find 59 ancient mummy coffins in burial wells in Sahara, Egypt.


According to some Egyptian legends, the ancient people cut off some of their dead new golden tongues so that they could speak before the Lord Osiris, the Egyptian god of the afterlife. However, researchers do not understand the real reason behind this.
