Indian Government Places Order,Oxford Vaccine Costs ₹ 200 Per Dose

The Covishield vaccine, manufactured by the Serum Institute of India (SII), will be priced at $ 200 a dose after a price agreement is reached with the government. SII sources say the first 100 million dose will be priced at ₹ 200, and the initial supply is expected to be 11 million dose.

With the government issuing the order this evening, the drug is expected to leave SII's Pune facilities tonight or tomorrow morning.

"The price has been set in writing," 

SII sources said, adding that exports of the life-saving vaccine are expected after January 16.

The government said over the weekend that the vaccination process would begin on January 16.

"A few million doses of covishield will be given each week. An initial dose of 11 million doses may be given," they added.
