IMD Issues Severe Heatwave Alert for 6 States and Delhi NCR, No Relief Even in Himachal Pradesh


Parts of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Gujarat have been reported to be experiencing severe heatwave conditions by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Heatwave conditions additionally continue in numerous areas of Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, and confined pockets of Madhya Pradesh. Gujarat has encountered these circumstances since May 15, and Saurashtra and Kutch since May 16.


Tourists visiting Himachal Pradesh to escape the intense heat of the plains are disappointed to find a heatwave affecting parts of the state. These conditions are expected to persist in isolated areas of Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Solan, Sirmaur, Kangra, and Shimla districts for the next 4-5 days, with a severe heatwave possible in these regions.


Greatest temperatures went from 43-46°C in many pieces of Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh, and in many pieces of Gujarat, as per IMD In certain areas of Madhya Pradesh, temperatures were between 40-42°C in pieces of Bihar, and detached pockets of Jharkhand, Vidarbha, and northern Madhya Maharashtra. In these regions, these temperatures were 2-4 °C above average.


Over the next four days, the IMD projects a gradual rise in maximum temperatures in central India of 2 to 3 °C. In Maharashtra, temperatures are supposed to increment by around 2-3°C over the course of the following three days with no tremendous change from there on. Over the next two days, temperatures in northwest India aren't expected to change much, but they will gradually rise by about 2°C. No huge temperature changes are normal in different pieces of the country.



Rajasthan enlisted its most elevated temperature at 46.7 degrees Celsius in Sriganganagar and Anta, while Nuh in Haryana arrived at a searing high of 47.2 degrees Celsius.


In the interim, Chandigarh, the capital common by Punjab and Haryana, encountered a pinnacle of 44.2 degrees Celsius.


In Punjab, Faridkot sizzled at 44 degrees Celsius, firmly followed by Amritsar at 43.9 degrees.


Datia in Madhya Pradesh saw temperatures take off to 47.5 degrees, while Agra in Uttar Pradesh recorded 47.7 degrees and Jhansi arrived at 47.2 degrees.


Expressing grave concern amid the sweltering heat, the IMD advised residents of the affected areas to remain vigilant, recommending preventive measures such as wearing light cotton clothes, using hats and umbrellas for sun protection and reducing outdoor exposure.
