Bomb Threat to Delhi-NCR Schools: Emails Originated from Russian Domain

Almost 100 schools in Delhi and the National Capital Region sent students home early after getting an email bomb threat. Police are on the scene, carrying out thorough searches, but haven't found anything suspicious so far.

The school building was evacuated after the local police were notified. Videos from the schools showed parents hurrying to pick up their children.

Bomb detection teams, bomb disposal squads, and officials from the Delhi Fire Service were quickly sent to the schools. Some schools, even those that didn't receive a threat, sent students home early as a precaution.

"We are taking all necessary precautions at the schools that received bomb threats. I urge parents not to panic, as nothing suspicious has been found," said Delhi Police spokesperson Suman Nalwa.

Sources indicate that all the schools received the threat emails from the same IP address. Moreover, they all got identical emails, and screenshots of these emails have been circulating on social media.

Delhi Police's Cyber team has now joined the investigation. However, the information about the emails originating from a Russian domain has not been confirmed by the police.

The police are currently tracking the IP address linked to the email. Sources have told media that emails like this are often sent using a VPN to hide the sender's original IP address. The Cyber team is confident they can track down the IP address. Investigation sources also suggest that the threat email might have been sent via the Dark Web.

According to Delhi Police, the schools that received the bomb threats include Sanskriti School in Chanakyapuri, Mother Mary School in Mayur Vihar, Delhi Public School in Dwarka, DAV School, Amity School, Pushp Vihar, Saket, and Noida, as well as Sanskriti School in the New Delhi district.

To cover all bases, different teams from the Delhi Police are examining different parts of the investigation. Meanwhile, the Noida, Ghaziabad, and Delhi police are coordinating a joint investigation to handle the situation.

Preliminary investigations suggest that since yesterday, emails have been sent to numerous locations, all appearing to follow the same pattern," police said earlier.

Meanwhile, senior Delhi Police officials are holding a meeting at police headquarters. The Special CP, along with the Joint CP and officers from the social media cell, are also in attendance.

Delhi's education minister, Atishi, confirmed the situation, stating that nothing suspicious has been found in any of the schools so far.
