petrol pumps experienced malfunctions due to a "Leap Year Glitch"

Petrol pumps have stopped working in this country due to a "leap year glitch"

In the current year, 2024, which is a Leap Year, there have been interesting and unusual incidents related to Leap Year. Another such case has emerged from New Zealand, where the petrol pumps stopped functioning due to the leap year. However, when the cause was disclosed, it surprised everyone.

Petrol pumps in New Zealand, which had issues on Thursday because of a "leap year glitch" in the payment software, are mostly functional again, as per the statement from the company responsible for the software on Friday.

Petroleum companies such as Allied Fuel, Gul, Z Energy, and BP released statements explaining that the self-service petrol pumps they operate were not working because of a glitch in the payment system. Subsequently, Karthik Ganapathy, President of Payment Software at GVR (Invenco), investigated and resolved the issue, restoring the functionality of the software. He expressed gratitude to New Zealand customers for their patience and collaboration during this period, acknowledging the challenges the issue presented.

He mentioned in a statement that after addressing the glitch, the website is now operating normally online and is also addressing any issues related to customer dues.

The problem was limited to New Zealand and did not affect Invenco payment systems in other parts of the world.
