Tamil Actor Thalapathy Vijay Annoinces Political Party, Namaz It 'Tamilaka Vetri Kazhagam'

Thalapathy Vijay, the actor, has started his own political party in Tamil Nadu. This happened shortly after he was made the leader of the Tamizha Vetri Kazhagam (TVK). It's expected that Vijay will participate in the upcoming 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections. The name of his party can be loosely translated as "Tamil Nadu Victory Party."

The actor shared the big news after his fan club, Vijay Makkal Iyakkam, approved the creation of the political party in a meeting held in Chennai last week.

In a statement, the actor said, "Today, we're asking the EC to let us register our party called 'Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam.' We aim to participate and win in the 2026 assembly elections, making the important political changes people desire."

Vijay said his party won't join the Lok Sabha election. The TVK also decided not to support any other candidates in their recent meetings.

Vijay stated that he would finish the movie he promised to do while still focusing on his political responsibilities to the public. He sees this as a way of showing his gratitude to the people of Tamil Nadu.

"Politics means more to me than just a job. It's a meaningful way to serve the people. I've been getting ready for this for a while. Politics is not just a pastime; it's my strongest wish. I aim to be completely dedicated to it," he stated.

Expanding on actor Vijay's entry into politics, the statement added, "You all know about the present political situation. There are issues like dishonest practices in administration and a corrupt political environment. Additionally, there's a trend of divisive politics that aims to separate our people based on caste and religion. Particularly in Tamil Nadu, there's a strong desire for a significant political transformation that can bring about a selfless, clear, caste-free, forward-thinking, corruption-free, and effective administration."

After getting permission from the Election Commission, the party wants to have meetings and events. In these meetings, they'll talk about their ideas and plans and also show a flag and party symbol.

But, the actor said the party won't join the 2024 general elections or support any other party in the upcoming elections.
