Bomb threat to Chennai schools

Chennai schools get bomb threat on email

On Thursday, the police reported that several private schools in the city received a bomb threat via email.

After the incident, the authorities told everyone to stay calm and not panic. Because of this, parents hurried to schools to get their children.

A total of 13 schools got these emails. We've looked into most of them with Bomb Detection and Disposal Squads (BDDS) teams. We think the email might be fake. Everything is okay, and people don't need to worry. We are working to find the person responsible for this incident," said GCP Assistant Commissioner of Police Prem Anand Sinha.

Sinha said the police received information about the emails between 10.30 am and 11.00 am.

Earlier today, parents quickly went to schools in places such as Gopalapuram, Mogappair, Parrys, and Anna Nagar. They got this information either from the schools or by watching the news on local TV channels.

The police are working hard to find out who sent the scary email to at least four schools.

"Bomb threat emails were sent to some schools in GCP limits. GCP/BDDS (Bomb Detection and Disposal Squads) have been sent to these schools for security checks, and efforts are underway to find the person who sent these emails," stated the GCP in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

Police sources mentioned that the cybercrime unit is investigating to find the IP address used to send the emails. All the emails came from the same ID, and they expect to catch the person responsible soon.
