4 people died and 65 were injured in a CUSAT music live show in Kochi

At least 65 people sustained injuries at a music festival at Cochin College of Science and Technology (CUSAT) in Kochi on Saturday night.

The incident happened at a music concert led by Nikhita Gandhi in an outdoor auditorium on the campus.

The state health minister, Veena George, confirmed four deaths and mentioned that two students are in critical condition.

They have been put on ventilator support at the government medical college hospital at Kalamasery.

We don't know who the people who passed away are. Health Minister Veena George said two of them were female, and the rest were male. Two of them were already deceased when they were brought to Kalamassery Medical College Hospital.

The minister mentioned that the hospitals are fully prepared to treat the injured students.

According to an initial report, students at the back of the concert went to the front when it started raining because there was no shelter at the back. This made more people gather at the front, causing a crowded situation and leading to the stampede-like incident at the university.

People needed gate passes to get into the concert, but things got worse when it started raining. Those waiting outside hurried into the auditorium to stay dry, which caused the stampede.
