UN claims nearly 200,000 displaced as Israel attacks Gaza




According to reports, from the United Nations 200,000 people, which accounts for approximately one-tenth of Gaza's population have been compelled to evacuate their residences. As a result of the blockade these displaced people are currently facing challenges such as access, to water and electricity.


In Gaza, lots of people, more than 187,500, had to leave their homes due to the conflict since Saturday. Jens Laerke, who represents the United Nations and talks about these issues, discussed it at a meeting in Geneva. He mentioned that if the fighting continues, even more people might have to leave their homes. Right now, they are seeking safety in schools.


Today, Israel kept attacking Hamas sites in Gaza and said they found the bodies of 1,500 militants in towns they took back near Gaza. In Israel, more than 900 people have sadly died, while in Gaza, officials have reported that 687 people have lost their lives.


Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has promised to severely damage areas controlled by Hamas, which has led to worries from the United Nations about the possibility of breaking international humanitarian laws.
