8 injured as private plane skids off Mumbai airport runway, crashes on landing
A private plane carrying eight people skidded off the runway at the Mumbai airport on Thursday. There were 6 passengers and two crew members on board.
"The eight passengers have been taken to Criticare Asia Hospital in Andheri East, Mumbai, for treatment."
"Learjet 45 Aircraft, VT-DBL, Operated by VSR Ventures, skidded off Runway While Landing at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on Thursday, September 14."
Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGCA) sources said the incident took place on runway 27 as heavy rain and limited visibility made landing a challenge.
"Visibility during landing was limited to just 700 meters due to heavy rain."
Mumbai Airport is presently closed for operations and undergoing inspection.
"Initial details provided by the Mumbai Disaster Authority indicate that the Mumbai Fire Brigade reported the incident at 5:45 pm."
