Chandrayaan-3 Vikram landed on Moon surface

Chandrayaan-3 Moon Landed Successfully

India made history by successfully landing its lunar mission, Chandrayaan-3, on the tricky south pole of the Moon. This accomplishment marks India as the first country to achieve a soft landing in this challenging area of the Moon.

Chandrayaan-3, the mission by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), has successfully landed on the Moon after a 40-day journey from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota. The Vikram lander made a gentle landing on the Moon at 6.04 PM IST on August 23.

The Chandrayaan-3 mission follows the Chandrayaan-2 mission from 2019, where the Vikram lander had an unfortunate crash landing on the Moon. The main goal of this mission is straightforward: to demonstrate that India can successfully land softly on the Moon. With this achievement, India has become part of a select group of countries that have accomplished a gentle lunar landing. Currently, there are three countries in this exclusive club: the United States, the Soviet Union, and China.

At exactly 6.03 p.m., the lander gently landed on the Moon's surface, and there were joyous celebrations at the Mission Operations Complex (MOX) in Bengaluru's ISRO Telemetry, Tracking, and Command Network (ISTRAC). In a few hours, the lander will release the rover, which will explore and analyze the lunar surface chemically as it moves around. Both the lander and rover are equipped with scientific instruments for experiments during their mission, which lasts one lunar day (equivalent to 14 Earth days).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) through a live video call from South Africa. He remarked on this historic achievement, saying, "As our scientists mentioned, India has now successfully reached the Moon."
