BSF shoots down Pakistani drone on the border near Amritsar
The Border Security Force (BSF) shot down a Pakistani drone that crossed the international border near Amritsar in Punjab. This comes days after a similar incident in Punjab's Ferozepur district.
BSF troops stationed on the border near Chaharpur in Amritsar heard the sound of a drone that could have crossed the Indian border from Pakistan. Troops fired in an attempt to intercept the suspected drone, but the bullet hit the drone and fell to the ground.
The area was cordoned off and the police and other concerned agencies were immediately alerted.
During the search operation, the BSF recovered a partially damaged hexacopter, an unmanned aerial vehicle with six rotors. Officials said a suspicious substance was attached to the white polythene.
The drone is suspected to be carrying drugs and its contents are being ascertained, an official said.
