120 crore drug smuggling, 6 people including former Air India pilot arrested
60 kg of mephedrone worth Rs 120 crore has been seized by the anti-narcotics unit from a warehouse in Mumbai. A former Air India pilot is among the two arrested.
Earlier this week, the party seized drugs in Jamnagar, Gujarat, along with a large network involved in drug trafficking. 4 people were arrested in that case.
ANI reported that law enforcement and intelligence agencies have arrested 6 people in connection with the incident. A senior official said one of those arrested was a former Air India pilot.
The arrested pilot, Sohail Gaffar, once worked for Air India. Trained in the US, Sohail Gaffar left the job a few years ago due to medical reasons.
The same narco-trafficking company sold about 225 kg of mephedrone in the market, of which 60 kg was seized yesterday, officials of the Anti-Drug Agency said.
The Mumbai drug smuggling incident took place in Jamnagar following a tip-off from Naval Intelligence.
A large number of drug paraphernalia were seized in Gujarat earlier this year.
