17 killed, 3 injured in a Chinese restaurant fire
A fire at a restaurant in the Chinese city of Changchun on Wednesday killed 17 people and injured three others, according to media reports, citing nearby experts.
A fire broke out at a restaurant in the northeastern city of Changchun at around 12:40 p.m causing casualties, Arab News reported, citing a local government statement posted on the social media site Weibo.
Firefighters "rushed to the scene" and completed the search and rescue operation by 3 p.m., the statement said.
"The injured have been shifted to hospital for treatment while post-mortem care is being carried out on the victims," it added.
One fire fighter was injured.
Officials said the cause of the incident is under investigation.
The commercial building is over 200 meters tall and is located in Changsha.
Changchun is an automobile manufacturing center and the capital of Jilin Province.
