Noida Police arrested Neta Shrikant Tyagi, absconding from Meerut

Absconding BJP leader Srikanth Tyagi was arrested along with three of his aides from Meerut on Tuesday, four days after he was caught assaulting a woman in a Noida residential society. This development was confirmed by the office of UP ATG (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar. This comes hours after Tyagi's wife was detained by the Noida police for questioning on Tuesday morning.

A look-out notice has been issued to a BJP leader in Uttar Pradesh after he was accused of assaulting a woman.

Tyagi, who claims to be a member of BJP's Kisan Morcha, has been publicly rejected by the party.

On Monday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered strict action against him and sought a report from the Home Ministry, initiating action against Tyagi under the Gangster Act and demanding Rs. 25,000 rewards for information about him, police said. Tyagi applied through his lawyer to surrender in a court in Gautam Budh Nagar on Monday.

The Noida Police has suspended a total of 6 constables, including the 2nd Phase Police Station In-Charge, in connection with the case.

"All were suspended for dereliction of duty, which led to Tyagi's supporters entering the community last night," said UP ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar.

The wooden and glass constructions are said to have occupied the common area of the society at the rear of the Tyagi Flat. A part of the meadow was also occupied by him. This led to an argument with local residents who objected to his planting palm trees in public places. A video showing Tyagi arguing with a fellow resident in this regard surfaced last Friday. A case was registered against him under section 354 IPC for pushing him.

The bulldozers, along with a contingent of police, rounded up the association's D Tower at 9 am on Monday.
