India reported 16,167 new cases and 41 deaths
India's total number of Covid-19 cases rose to 4,41,61,899 with 16,167 new coronavirus infections reported in a single day.
The death toll rose to 5,26,730 with 41 deaths, including 15 in Kerala, the data updated at 8 am.
The 26 new deaths include four from Karnataka, three from Gujarat, two each from Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Odisha, Punjab, and West Bengal, and one each from Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh.
The five states with the most active cases are Punjab (12155), Maharashtra (12011), Karnataka (11898), Kerala (10656), and Tamil Nadu (9889).
The active caseload rose marginally to 1,35,510 cases, which is 0.31 percent of the total positive cases in the country.
Active Covid-19 caseload increased by 577 cases in 24 hours.
In the last 24 hours, 15,549 patients have recovered, taking the total to 4,34,99,659.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 87,81,88,162 samples have been tested for Covid-19 till August 7. Of this, 2,63,419 samples were tested on Sunday.
34,75,330 doses have been administered in the last 24 hours.
About 206.56 crore total vaccine doses have been administered so far under the nationwide vaccination drive, of which 93.60 crore are second doses and 10.88 crores are preventive doses.
