In Delhi, the number of hospitalizations for Covid treatment has increased by 60% in 14 days



Hospitalizations in Delhi have surged north of 60% since August 1 as the city reports a flood of Covid patients at a 19.20 percent pace, the highest in more than 200 days, data showed. Less than 90% of those who agreed did not undertake promotional efforts as indicated by the Delhi government.


Most of the admissions took place on Tuesday when 900 cases were reported in the national capital.


Although the number of cases reported yesterday was lower compared to the previous days - 1,506 cases were reported on August 2 and 2,495 on August 9, the number of hospitalizations accounted for 61 percent of the day's total cases.


Of the 917 cases reported yesterday, 563 persons were admitted to city clinics and 202 were shifted to the intensive care unit, ICU due to infection-related issues, data provided by the Delhi government showed. 


India reported 9,062 new cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday, taking the total number of infections to 4,42,86,256.


According to the data of the Union Health Ministry, 1,05,058 people are currently infected with Corona in the country.


36 new fatalities, including six reconciled by Kerala, the data updated at 8 am stated.


30 new deaths include 6 from Punjab; five from Karnataka; three each from Delhi and Rajasthan; two each from Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Uttarakhand; and one each from Chandigarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Ladakh, Odisha, Sikkim, and West Bengal.


Delhi, Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana, which have reported the highest number of cases of Covid-19, have been advised by the Center to continue monitoring the spread of the infection and speed up vaccination for those eligible.


In the last 24 hours, more than 15,220 people have recovered from Covid, taking the total recoveries to date at 4,36,354,06.


About 88.10 crore Covid tests have been conducted to date, with 3,64,038 tests conducted in the last 24 hours.


Around 208.57 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under the nationwide vaccination drive, with 25,90,557 doses administered in the last 24 hours.
