India reports 18,840 new Covid-19 cases, 43 deaths



India reported 18,840 new Covid-19 cases and 43 deaths in the 24-hour period ending 8 am on Saturday, according to Union Health Ministry data.


The 43 new deaths include 19 from Kerala, 7 from Maharashtra, 3 each from Delhi and West Bengal, 2 each from Assam and Uttar Pradesh, and one each from Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Nagaland, Punjab, Sikkim, and Uttarakhand.


The top five states are Kerala with a maximum of 3,310 cases, West Bengal with 2,950 cases, Maharashtra with 2,944 cases, Tamil Nadu with 2,722 cases, and Karnataka with 1,037 cases.


India's active caseload stands at 1,25,028. In the last 24 hours, the number of active cases has increased by 2,693.


On July 9, the daily positive rate was recorded at 4.14 percent.


A total of 16,104 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries across the country to 4,29,53,980.


According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 86,61,77,937 samples have been tested for Covid-19 till July 8. Of these, 4,54,778 samples were tested on Friday.



India has administered a total of 12,26,795 doses in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of doses administered to 1,98,65,36,288.
