India reports 16,159 fresh COVID-19 cases and 28 deaths in the last 24 hours

India has reported 16,159 new Covid cases and 28 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 5,25,270.

In the last 24 hours, active cases have increased by 737.

Total active cases of COVID-19 in India rose to 1,15,212, Health Ministry data showed today. Yesterday, the number of active cases registered was 1,14,475.

The top five states with the highest number of cases are Maharashtra with 3,098 cases, Tamil Nadu with 2,662 cases, Kerala with 2,603 cases, West Bengal with 1,973 cases, and Karnataka with 839 cases.

A total of 15,394 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries across the country to 4,29,07,327.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 86,49,05,684 samples have been tested for Covid-19 till July 5. Of these, 4,54,465 samples were tested on Tuesday.

India has administered a total of 9,95,810 doses in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of doses administered to 1,98,20,86,763.
