The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a red warning for heavy to very heavy rains in the Pune, Satara, and Kolhapur districts of western Maharashtra for the next three days. Wednesday night. IMD officials fear that if the rains continue overnight, the water level of Panchganga and other rivers will reach the warning mark (39 feet) by Thursday morning.


The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has deployed 17 teams in areas where heavy to very heavy rains have been reported in Maharashtra.


“In Maharashtra, we have seen very heavy rains recently. Maharashtra government mentioned 17 groups and every one of the 17 groups has been made accessible and they have been positioned in Mumbai, Thane, and so on," NDRF DG  Karwal told news organization ANI.


Additionally, a landslide occurred near Pratapgarh Fort in Maharashtra's Satara district after heavy rains lashed overnight today. The rains in Dadar and Sion led to the overflowing of Powai Lake.


The IMD issued a heavy rain warning for Maharashtra on Thursday and for the next two days as heavy rains lashed Maharashtra state capital Mumbai for the third consecutive day, causing landslides near a chawl, water logging, and traffic disruptions.


Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rains in Odisha for the next 5 days and has issued an alert to 17 districts for the possibility of heavy rains in the Odisha region. Ganjam region of Odisha received 130.4 mm of rainfall which was the most significant, followed by Kendrapara 93.4 mm and Sundargarh 78 mm.


“IMD has issued an orange warning for four districts of South Odisha with heavy to very heavy rain expected in  Kalahandi, Kandhmal, Ganjam, and Boudh districts during the next 24 hours.


Along with this, a yellow alert has been issued for 13 districts in the state like Raigarh, Puri, Khurda, Nabrangpur, Nuapada, Koraput, Balangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Ganjam,” Umashankar Das told ANI.


Also, Telangana will receive exceptionally heavy rains in the next two days, said Sravani, a researcher at the Hyderabad Meteorological Centre. "As of now, Telangana has received the heaviest rainfall; Nagarkunul has received 16 centimeters (cm) of rain, Some districts received 9 cm of rain. In the last 24 hours, the temperature in the state has gone up to 30 to 32 degrees Celsius," Sravani told ANI.


Telangana will receive good rains in the coming days, with the districts in the southern part of the state - Jogulamba Gadwal, Vanaparti, Nagarkurnool, and Nalgonda receiving heavy to very heavy rains, while the central parts are also likely to receive rain. southern parts of Telangana will receive good rains with heavy to very heavy rains in the next five days," She added.
