RCB Captain IPL 2022: Faff du Plessis has been announced as the new captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore team, with the new jersey to be unveiled.
Former South African captain Faf du Plessis has been named as the new captain of the IPL Royal Challengers Bangalore team, replacing long-time captain Virat Kohli.
Fans kept chanting Virat Kohli's name till the announcement of the show which started at 12 noon.

At a virtual event here, team captain Prathmesh Mishra and director cricket operations Mike Hesson presented the cap to Du Plessis.
Former captain Virat Kohli has congratulated new captain Faff du Plessis via video message. Retired RCB legend AB de Villiers has also sent a heartwarming video message for his compatriot.

"I am very grateful for the opportunity. I have played a lot in the IPL and understood the dynamics of the game. It is no small matter to trust a foreign player," said Du Plessis, who resigned as South African captain in 2020 in all formats.
The 37-year-old Du Plessis has so far played in 100 matches in the IPL and scored 2935 runs at more than 131 strike speeds. He scored 633 for CSK in the IPL win a year ago.
Kohli was sacked as captain of the Indian ODI team and later resigned as Test captain, meaning he will now play for India and as a player in the IPL.
