India has banned another 54 Chinese apps that threaten security.



India has banned 54 Chinese app that threat to the country's security, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology said today.


The ministry said 54 applications were gaining various important permissions and collecting important user data. “This collected real-time data is being misused and sent to servers located in a hostile country. It enables me to compile, analyze, and compile personal data on elements that are hostile to India's sovereignty and integrity and on activities that are detrimental to national security, "the Ministry of Information Technology said in a statement.


The list of banned apps includes 

  • Sweet Selfie HD
  • Beauty Camera - Selfie Camera
  • Garena Free Fire - Illuminate 
  • Viva Video Editor
  • Tencent Xriver
  • Onmyoji Arena
  • AppLock 
  • Dual Space Lite.



“In addition, there are other serious concerns as some of these apps can spy and monitor via camera / mic, access optimal location (GPS) and perform malicious network activity such as previously blocked apps. These apps are said to be involved in acts that are detrimental to the sovereignty and integrity of the country and pose a serious threat to the security of the state and the security of India.


According to a report shared by the MHA, these applications are either cloned versions or contain activities, privacy issues and security threats, as stated in the 267 applications blocked by the Center by 2020.
