In 24 hours, 90,928 Govid cases and 325 deaths were reported in India.
India recorded the fastest rise as 90,928 new corona virus cases were registered on Thursday. As many as 58,097 Covid cases were reported in the country on Wednesday.
Covid-19 cases are on the rise in several states, including Delhi, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Kerala.
Cities across the country are registering a significant increase in their cases. More than 15,000 cases have been reported in Mumbai -Covid-19 cases have doubled in Delhi, with 10,665 new cases on Wednesday. Pune also rose six-fold in the past one week from 477 on December 30 to 2,813 on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the number of Omigrons in the country reached 2,630, with Maharashtra (797) topping the list, followed by Delhi (465), Rajasthan (236) and Kerala (234).
On Wednesday, the Center confirmed the first Omigran-related death in the country - a 74-year-old man with comorbidities died of the virus last week in Udaipur, Rajasthan.
In terms of vaccine coverage, a total of 91,25,099 doses were delivered to eligible beneficiaries in the last 24 hours, including individuals aged 15 to 18 years. 40,80,263 young people have taken the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine in the last 24 hours, according to data shared by the Union Health Ministry.
India launched the vaccine on January 3 for 15-18 year olds and more than one crore of them have taken 1 dose so far.
