All international travelers coming to India must be under house isolation for 7 days.
The Union government on Friday announced that from January 11, all international travelers flying into India will be required to undergo compulsory seven-day home isolation upon arrival, and issued new travel guidelines in view of the growing number of COVID-19 cases in India. More than one lakh new COVID-19 cases, including 3,007 new cases of the Omicron variant, have been reported in India in the one day new guidelines for international travelers have arrived.
All passengers landing at Indian airports are required to submit a self-declaration form on the Air Suvidha Portal online and now upload a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR report 72 hours prior to departure on the Air Suvidha Portal.If there are any details of travel during the last 14 days, passengers should indicate.
Only those who have uploaded their notification forms and RT-PCR negative report will be allowed to board the flight to India.
Passengers from countries classified as 'at risk' will also be subjected to RT-PCR testing during arrival. Passengers are advised to book the test online at the Air Suvidha portal, to facilitate timely testing. If they are tested negative at the airport, they will have to follow home isolation for seven days and will be subjected to RT-PCR test on the eighth day after arrival in India. Passengers are required to upload repeated RT-PCR test results on the Air Suvidha portal.
The following countries are currently classified as 'Endangered': Countries in Europe including the United Kingdom, South Africa, Brazil, Botswana, China, Ghana, Mauritius, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Hong Kong, Israel, Congo, Ethiopia, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Nigeria, Tunisia, and Zambia.
In the case of countries not marked as 'endangered', a sub-segment (2%) of the total number of passengers arriving from such a check will be randomly subjected to a post-arrival check upon arrival at the airport. These passengers will be selected by the respective airlines. These passengers are also required to undergo home isolation for 7 days and undergo RT-PCR testing on the eighth day after arrival in India.
Children under the age of five are exempt from pre- and post-arrival tests. However, government guidelines state that if symptoms are detected upon arrival or during home isolation, they will be tested and treated according to a prescribed protocol.
On January 7, 2022, 1,17,100 new corona virus infections were reported in India in a single day, while the number of active cases increased to 3,71,363, a maximum of about 120 days, according to the latest data updated at 8 am.
