27,553 new Covid-19 cases in India, 284 deaths; The Omicron count reaches 1,525.
According to data released by the Ministry of Health on Sunday (January 2, 2022), 27,553 new Covid-19 cases and 284 deaths have been reported in India in the last 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 4,81,770.
Meanwhile, with 460, Maharashtra has the highest number of Omigron cases in the country, of which 180 cases have been acquitted, recovered or displaced. Delhi tops the list with 351 cases, followed by Gujarat (136), Tamil Nadu (117) and Kerala (109).
